— Performance based on stories from the Tale of Genji and the Tale of Heike. These are among the best-known works of classical Japanese literature. Prosperity and decline, karma, novelty, love, sickness, and death, the transient nature of our lives and all of which surrounds us are recurring themes in classical Japanese literature.

— 書の美と力 Subject of lecture: Traditional Shodo demands adherence to strict and rigid rules of dimension, proportion, stroke order, and even brush angles and pressures, which leave little room for the artist’s personal expression. In order to accommodate this, various contemporary styles of Shodo have developed over time. My art displayed includes samples from both the traditional as well as the contemporary styles. When expressing myself, I am mostly inspired by nature, not only objects and images, but also feelings and moods. I always preserve the integrity of the characters in my calligraphy and often their composition matches their meaning.  The themes of peacefulness and harmony often serve as the basis, if not the backdrop, to the scene.
